Day 1ARRIVAL TO VILNIUS

Arrival to Vilnius – the capital of Lithuania.Transfer to the hotel.Overnight.

 

Day 2VILNIUS

Regular city tour, joining the group and including all the most famous highlights.All day at your disposal. In the evening a private “Ghost tour” of the city. The guide will lead you through the labyrinths of Vilnius, telling the mystical stories and legends. It is even told, that Hannibal stayed in Vilnius for some of his years…Let the guide show you all this…Overnight.SIGHTS to be visited throughout the day:Gates of Dawn – Gates of Dawn were built at the beginning of the 16th century and was a part of defensive fortifications for the city of Vilnius. On September 4th, the Pope John Paul II said a Rosary at the Gate of Dawn chapel. St Anne’s church – As one of the most beautiful and famous buildings in Vilnius the St Anne’s Church is outstanding in its appearance. The beauty of the church has fascinated many of whom one was Napoleon I. A story goes that on his way to Moscow when seeing St Anne’s Church he became so spellbound that he would like to put it in the palm of his hand and transfer it to Paris. Good luck to the Vilnius he didn’t.

 

Day 3VILNIUS – KAUNAS – TRAKAI –VILNIUS

Leaving Kaunas for Vilnius after breakfast. Kaunas is the second biggest town of Lithuania, having its very local spirit – it used to be the “Lithuanian Paris” in between the wars period where people used to live a very social and entertaining life. That is why the main manufactures of beer and other alcoholic drinks are located here. Discover when and where beer brewing started, its advantages and disadvantages. Find out what beer Lithuanians brewed first in Europe. Taste some special beer appreciated by Moscow millionaires. Observe the brewing process using new technologies. See the God of Beer, the world’s smallest beer glass, and a collection of beer glasses and mugs. Discover where British lords, NATO General Secretary D. Robertson, FIFA Vice President M. Platini, former Russian Prime minister E. Primakov and other famous people tasted beer. The tour ends at one of the oldest Lithuanian breweries, established in 1866, famous for its unique technologies, tasting its outstanding beer, of course. On the way back to Vilnius stopover in Trakai – the ancient Lithuanian capital, world famous for its ancient brick castle, which is the only insular castle in the Eastern Europe. Back to Vilnius Overnight SIGHTS to be visited throughout the d Kaunas Old Town – dominated by a majestic, often crumbling mix of Gothic and Renaissance-styles with a cluster of 16th century merchant houses around the Town Hall, Kaunas Old Town is not to be missed. The main street, Vilniaus street, was in its day back in the 13th century a highway linking the city with Vilnius Kaunas Town Hall – often called the White Swan, the Town Hall’s construction was begun in 1542. The building encompasses Gothic, Baroque and early Classicism elements. In the Medieval Ages, the Town Hall, along with the main market place, was the centre of Kaunas. After its latest reconstruction in 1970, the Town Hall became the Wedding Palace with the Ceramics Museum in its basemen. Trakai castle – Trakai, the ancient capital of Lithuania, is 30 km from Vilnius. The unique landscape of Trakai, “the town of lakes” as it often called, is comprised of numerous picturesque lakes and hills. The main landmark of Tarkai is the famous insular Trakai Castle. The Trakai Castle is an excellent example of Gothic architecture. The center of the architectural ensemble of the castle is the Duke’s palace, surrounded by the thick defensive wall and protected by the fore-castle.

Day 4VILNIUS – HILL OF CROSSES – RUNDALE - RIGA 350 KM

Leaving Vilnius for Riga after breakfast. On the way having a stop in the Hill of crosses – the most saint place in Lithuania – a small hill with hundred thousands of crosses brought by people from all over the world. Continuing to Rundale – the “baroque pearl” of Latvia. SS tour in the Manor and in the park.Arriving to Riga in the afternoon.Check in at the hotel.Overnight.SIGHTS to be visited throughout the day:Rundale Palace – Rund?le Palace is one of the most outstanding monuments of Baroque and Rococo art in Latvia. It was built between 1736 and 1740 as a summer residence of Duke Ernst Johann of Courland. The Italian masters from St. Petersburg Francesco Martini and Carlo Zucchi created paintings on the ceilings and walls while sculptor Johann Michael Graff from Berlin made stucco decorations on the background of artificial marble. The places central building is occupied by the Duke’s former living quarters. Duchess’ apartments and the rooms, which were resided by other members of the Duke’s family, are situated in the western wing of the Palace. The parade rooms where to hold court are situated in the eastern wing of the Palace- the Gold Hall (Throne room), the White Hall (Ball room), the Grand Gallery (Banqueting room) and five small rooms, where the collection of Chinese and Japanese porcelain is displayed.

 

Day 5RIGA

SS tour in Riga after breakfast. At one time or another, Germans, Russians and Jews have all left their indelible mark on Riga – known before World War II as the Paris of the North. The city is the mixture of old and new, especially it is seen on the architecture of the Old Town.This is also a city where some buildings have a sense of humor. Walk with your head up and eyes peeled for architectural wonders you are not likely to have seen anywhere else before. On the tour you will visit the Latvian food market where you will get acquainted with the Latvian homemade food and have a possibility to have a finger lunch just from the counter! The tour will end at Black Magic bar, where you will get acquainted with the Latvians number one drink – Black balsam. You will have a possibility to hear the history of this balsam and to see how is it made and how it could be used.Overnight.SIGHTS to be visited throughout the day:Art Noveau Architecture –Riga is the biggest gallery of Art Noveau architecture by Russian Architect Mikhail Eisenstein. Some buildings have still not been renovated which makes for a somewhat chaotic clash of modern investment and communist neglect.Dome Cathedral – the largest place of worship in the Baltics, measuring 187×43 m., with walls two meters thick, Dome Cathedral also has one of the biggest organs in Europe.House of Blackheads – this is one of the architectural treasures of Riga, it was just recently rebuilt in honor of the city’s 800th anniversary in 2001. A striking Gothic building with a Dutch Renaissance façade, it was used to house travelling, single members of the merchants guild.

 

Day 6RIGA – SIGULDA – PARNU – TALLINN (300 KM)

Leaving Riga for Tallinn after breakfast. On the way visiting Sigulda town and Turaida reservoir. Continuing to Parnu – the summer capital of Estonia, located at the Baltic sea. Some time to enjoy.Arriving to Tallinn in the late afternoon.Check in at the hotel.Overnight.SIGHTS to be visited throughout the day:Turaida Museum’s Reserve – is the most visited attraction near Sigulda. This is a huge park with a nold Lutheran Church, with a collections of statues and sculptures, and, most impresively, the partially-restored Turaida castle, built in 1214. You can climb up the restored main tower to get views over the Gauja River.Sigulda castle – it is an excellently landscaped 18th century castle which sits just in front of its 13th counterpart.Parnu – Sunny Pärnu has been the official summer capital of Estonia for many years. In fact, this resort city has been synonymous with sun, sea and beach. The shores surrounding the city have a climate that can be described as one of the warmest in Estonia. It’s the sun that symbolizes recreation and tourism in Pärnu, as do the Solar Circles, which connect Pärnu County, the Summer Capital of Pärnu, and the four tourism regions of Pärnu County.

Please be aware it’s your responsibility to ensure you’re covered for all possible vaccinations or medications needed for your trip. We pride ourselves on being able to do many things but sadly we are not qualified physicians, so please speak with your doctor to ensure you are up to date on your recommended vaccinations. Often vaccinations need to be given well over a month prior to departure to have reached full efficacy.
